Do Less. Connect More.
Practical social media advice from our Lunch & Learn with Erika McInerney
Social media can feel like another full-time job when you’re already busy running a business. Finding time, deciding what to post and keeping up with changing platforms can leave even the most enthusiastic business owner feeling overwhelmed.
Today’s Gippsland Women in Business Lunch & Learn with Erika McInerney of Mac&Ernie gave our community an opportunity to pause and rethink that pressure.
With 55 people registered to attend live or watch the recording later, Do Less. Connect More. clearly touched on a challenge many of us share: how to make social media manageable while still building meaningful connections.
Erika’s practical and approachable advice encouraged us to think about our next social media post with greater purpose. The session offered space to consider what we’re trying to achieve, who we’re speaking to and how we can create content that feels relevant to our audience.
The questions submitted ahead of the session reflected the everyday challenges faced by our community:
Finding time for content: How can social media fit around the demands of running a business?
Knowing what to share: What makes content relevant, useful and engaging?
Showing the human side of a business: How can we bring our personality and experience into our posts?
Turning engagement into action: How can social media help people take the next step towards working with us?
Keeping up with change: Where should we focus our energy when platforms and algorithms keep shifting?
These questions helped shape a conversation grounded in the needs of local business owners. The positive feedback we’ve already received suggests Erika’s advice gave attendees plenty to think about and ideas to bring into their own businesses.
We’re also grateful for the $130 in voluntary contributions received through registrations. This support helps GWIB continue offering accessible opportunities for learning and connection.
A heartfelt thank you to Erika for sharing her time and expertise, and to everyone who registered, joined the conversation or contributed.
